Report : BBQ & Lantern Festival

Last Sunday was the moon at its brightest on Toronto. And it's also the day for Lantern Festival here. By which MASAT had organized its annual BBQ and Lantern Festival. The gathering, which attracts more than 100 members was a phenomenal. Almost every first year students turned up, where seniors and juniors get to know each other. Even some York University and Ryerson University commuted here, at UofT St. George for such a great event.

Event started with registration, and the claiming of our very first MASAT polo t-shirt.Then, everyone enjoyed the grilled foods and beverages. Maybe someone felt that there wasn't any Malaysian cuisine. But, hear this. Our President, Eu Jin had promised that this will be the only event whereby there's no Malaysian cuisine. So, look forward for the next event. We'll provide some tasty and delicious delicacy.

Later that afternoon, we had a short speech from all MASAT Committee. After some mini-frisbee, it's time for the mooncake which is very tasty. Finally, when it's quite dark, everyone get the chance to play lantern. Colorful lantern lights up the UTSU lawn, marking the end of the event.

Report: Evening Tea with Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor

Yupp, the title says it all. It has been a great day for 10 of us MASAT members, where we get to meet with the wife of our Prime Minister, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor. Though her visit here to Canada is intended for another business, we were very glad that she spare her valuable time to meet with us students.

The meeting or small discussion was held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Toronto. The High Commissioner of Malaysia, Dato' Hayati and her affiliates came down from Ottawa to greet and meet Datin Seri. Alongside them, two MATRADE officer which is based in Toronto joined the gathering.

The discussion went smoothly. We talked about lots of things. Datin Seri told us that we as sponsored students must study hard and served the country after graduating. She also urged us to make connections with other international students, which in turn will promote Malaysian culture indirectly.

Some photos from today:

Report: MASAT Club Day

For the first time ever, MASAT has joined the UTSU Club Fair on last Wednesday, 7th of September. The event was held from 10am to 2pm.
The main objective is to promote Malaysian culture to the world. Which we do by having a board full of information on Malaysia. Visitors also enjoyed some of the traditional food that we provided.
Thanks to all who participate in making this event a success. To the volunteers, you guys had done an excellent job.
We hope that this event will be made an annual event, as it is a very effective way in attracting people to know more about Malaysia.
