Welcoming BBQ and Mooncake Festival

We had a major blow to this event. Rain start pouring in on Friday night, and never stop till 6 PM on Saturday (September 21), the day which this event supposed to take place. We had to abandon the original plan of doing the event at the Toronto Island, and use the usual UTSU lawn. And since the rain never stops, it got postponed the next day.

The gloomy weather changed Sunday into a beautiful day, with the sun shines all day; not even a single drop of rain. Apart from fall chill, it was a perfect weather for the BBQ.
Around 5 PM, people start filling in the UTSU lawn space. More and more people coming, and only after some lengthy chat with friends did they started to line up for the grilled chicken and sausages. Big thanks to the two chefs, Galmier and Fathuddin for grilling the foods.

The lines didn't end until the President, Zakkeeyyah 'order'ed everyone to gather around. She thanked thanking everyone who came; introduced/reminded them to MASAT and all the committees. Next, all new members (primarily first year students) introduced themselves to everyone. A short while later, Jason was elected as the 1st Year Representative for MASAT. Congratulations Jason! We're looking forward to working with you.

As it started to get dark, people started to pick their favorite color of lanterns and light them. Mooncake of various flavors were served. Tasted so great, one-eight of a mooncake per person wasn't enough. Don't worry, we'll give a bigger portion next year.

All in all, it was a great event. The turnout was fantastic, and seeing people having fun, meeting new and old friends was just a wonderful sight. Thank you everyone for coming. Hopefully we will see you around.
