Malaysian Students' Association at the University of Toronto

Salam sejahtera everyone,

Masat Graduation Dinner is an on going tradition of where graduating members are celebrated of their achievements and accomplishment in completing their studies at UofT. This year, the dinner was held at the MultiFaith Center at UofT with a special menu catered by Affy's Premium Grill. A total of 14 grad made it to the dinner with the special appearance of Zakkeeyyah Zainoddin's parents.

It seemed like the attendees enjoyed the 3 meal course served personally by us, the committee member. The mood of the evening was then taken deep into the blue by the short video made by the Media Department. It sure did shed tears. But in the end of the day, everyone enjoyed the dinner and realized how much they have gone through in this chapter of their life. Here are some of the photos and the video for the grad.

MASAT would like to congratulate the class of 1T3 & 1T2 + PEY for ending their undergraduate careers at U of T !
All the best in your future endeavors !

Here are some extra pics from the day:

The Graduate Dinner at Momo's Middle Eastern Cuisine
The evening after the graduation session for the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, MASAT held a special dinner for our respective just-graduated students. About 20 of the graduating students attended this dinner. Along with parents and friends, the dinner was spectacular.

The food was catered from Pickle Barrel, a famous restaurant. The attendees was being served with a 3 course meal. The main dish were either the special Avocado Salsa Chicken Breast or their delicious Salmon Teriyaki.

Between the meals, our President, Wen Cheng Chong gave his speech; congratulating all the students for their achievement. Then, several graduated students came out to the front and gave probably their last speech in MASAT event. Among the important message from them is that we have to think about why do we do whatever we are doing, because its the cause that's important.

That's it. So long all graduating students. Till we meet again. "SELAMAT MAJU JAYA!!!"
About 20 or so of MASAT members graduated yesterday. This convocation session was the largest group of our members to graduate, as it consists of Engineering students; which make up about two-third of MASAT members.

The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering session was broken into two session, the Morning session for Civil, Mining, Mechanical & Industrial and Material Science department, and the Afternoon session; for Aerospace, Biomedical, Chemical, Electrical and Engineering Science departments.

Despite the hotter than average weather yesterday, every graduating students cannot hide their smile of joy as this is the moment they'd been waiting for the four, five years of studying.

Parents, family members and friends were present to support them. Thanks to all of you, yesterday's ceremony was a memorable one.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! to all graduated students; from our first session (UTM students) till yesterday's session. To those who'll or already went back home, hopefully we'll bump into each other in the future. To the one's staying in Toronto, we'll keep in contact. There's much to learnt from all of you guys.

As of now, goodbye and see you guys soon.

For MASAT members, today was the first day for our Class of 2012 members to graduate. Today's sessions were all for University of Toronto at Missisauga (UTM) students. And what a great day it was. The morning session was held at 9:30am to 11:30am in which we had seven MASAT members graduating.
The lit up of our graduated students.
Meanwhile in the afternoon session, another two students were graduating. We would have another one, but she had gone back early to Malaysia. Anyway, thank you to all other members who came by to celebrate together with these graduated students. It was so much fun with many people around. Not to forget the family members who came by all the way from Malaysia. Thanks so much.
All smiles.
So, CONGRATULATIONS! and ALL THE BEST! to all of the graduated and will-be-graduated students. The pain and hard work for all the years was finally paid off.

Also, don't forget to check the convocation schedule for our other members session. Again, the link: http://www.convocation.utoronto.ca/.

Today's graduation. The last MASAT member to graduate during this year; Mubeen. After the 2:00pm graduating session, we managed to spend some time with him and his parents and siblings, who were very friendly.

As Mubeen and his parents agreed, time passed very fast. They couldn't believe how short it was during Mubeen 4 years of study in UofT.

So folks, learn something from this. Make the most of your time doing beneficial and educational things. Just some insight that we can take.

Below are some photos taken with him.

And with some of us.

Congratulation to Mubeen. We wish him the best for his life. We'll meet again some other time, if God Wills.
Another event held by MASAT last night to appreciate our graduating students. Around 25 attendees (students and parents) attended the dinner which is held in Hart House. Hope everyone had a great time, and enjoyed the great meal served.

During the dinner, a farewell that I've been talking about before is showed to the guests. An interesting memorandum from the juniors to the graduates. Here is the video;

A very insightful video. And now some pictures from the dinner. Credit to Aiman Azlan for capturing all the moments.

1st MASAT Graduation Dinner (June 15, 2011).

I ended this post with an interesting quote / wish from our previous President;
A Jedi (U of T grad) whose lightsaber (degree) is guided by the Force (knowledge, passion, and everything else) need not fear the outcome of any battle. :D All the best guys!
          -Wen Cheng, Chong-
Hi guys, today three of our seniors (Arif, Jin Yong and Safwan) has graduated. A moment of a lifetime. To these gentlemen, enjoy your graduation before entering a new life as a employee.

So, after the morning graduation session, I went to take a look at the ceremony and celebration. Everyone was having a great time. I met with Arif and Jin Yong together with their friendly families. We had a little chat and I took the chance to take some pictures of them. So, here there are, a few of the pictures.

Unfortunately, I can't find Safwan anywhere but I am sure he's too, very excited with his graduation.

For reader's info, right now (starting 8pm), a dinner with the Graduates is being held in Hart House. Have a good meal everybody. Don't forget, about the video I talk on the last post. It will be played during the dinner. To those who didn't have the chance to join, I'll be posting the video soon (after the dinner ended).

That's all for now. Don't forget that we still have another one graduating tomorrow. Our one and only Mubeen. His session is on 2pm. And he had invited anyone who can make it to come to King's Circle at 4pm to take some group photos together.

So, see you tomorrow.
The 2011 Graduation has begun. And for our MASAT members, their session will begin starting this Wednesday. I would like to congratulates all of them (Arif, Safwan, Jin Yong and Mubeen) for this. All of them has been very committed to their studies in UofT. They share a lot of personalities and qualities that can be a good example to other MASAT members to follow.
